Today we are announcing that going forward TD Banknorth and Commerce Bank will be re-branded as TD Bank, America's Most Convenient Bank^®.

This change in our previously-announced brand name is due to a legal challenge in Massachusetts which prevented us from using the name TD Commerce Bank. In defending our position, it became clear it could take years to resolve the matter. As such, we have decided to focus our energy, our resources, and our passion on what matters most – our Customers and our Employees – and move forward as TD Bank, America's Most Convenient Bank.

Our new brand name retains both the TD shield – recognized globally as a sign of strength in financial services – as well as our promise of being "America's Most Convenient Bank".

This decision does not impact our plan to Build The Better Bank – a bank committed to more convenience, greater service, and better choices from Maine to Florida. And rest assured, you'll continue to receive the same legendary service from the same great people, day in and day out.

Rolling Out Our New Brand

Nothing has changed – except our name. A brand is more than a name to us. And "America's Most Convenient Bank" is much more than a tagline. It is the essence of who we are as a company. In our Mid-Atlantic region, we will begin rebranding our branches as TD Bank this Fall, and in New England, in the Fall of 2009.
