Frequently Asked Questions – Sponsorships
Is my organization eligible to apply for sponsorship funding?
TD Banknorth considers sponsorship proposals from a wide variety of organizations. However, we generally do not contribute to the following:
- Individuals and families
- Political, governmental, fraternal, religious, veterans or labor groups
- Trips, tours, tournaments, teams and conferences
- Public or private educational institutions, including associated teams, groups, events or scholarships
- Single issue organizations (organizations that research or increase awareness of a single issue or illness)
- Advertising or professional fundraising
- Annual appeals or annual operating support
- Research projects
- Organizations or events which are not open to members of the general public
If I am interested in obtaining sponsorship funding, must I use the online PDF?
Yes. The sponsorship proposal form is easy to complete and should take no longer than ten minutes of your time. The important information you provide will help us assess your request fairly and in a timely fashion.
How many times may I apply for a sponsorship?
You may apply as many times as you would like throughout the year, but only one sponsorship will be awarded to an organization in any calendar year.
Who will review my proposal and make the final funding decision?
All proposals will be reviewed at the local level for recommendations with final approval by each individual state's review committee.
When are funding decisions made?
Funding decisions will be made monthly on sponsorship requests. The requests will be reviewed at state-wide meetings, which may vary from state-to-state. Payments will be made within 30 days of a decision on a sponsorship request.
What is the deadline to submit a sponsorship proposal?
Sponsorship proposals will be reviewed on a rolling basis as they are received. Individual states may schedule their monthly review meetings at different times during the month. Sponsorship proposals should be submitted at least three months prior to the date you need funding for a program or event. If you have more questions, please contact the community relations manager in your area.
Can I explain my sponsorship proposals in person?
Unfortunately, due to the high volumes of proposals, meeting with all the sponsorship applicants is not possible.
What is the difference between a program and an event?
Events are one-time activities that potentially benefit a not-for-profit organization. These may include, but are not limited to, things like walk-a-thons, relays for life and food drives. Programs are more likely to be on-going activities and may be educational in nature or provide entertainment. These may include things like summer concert series, lecture series or training workshops.
How do I submit my completed Sponsorship Proposal Form and the required documents?
You may submit your completed sponsorship proposal form and all required documents as one package by mail to the community relations manager in your area. Incomplete proposals cannot be considered for funding.
Should I keep a copy of the completed sponsorship proposal form?
Yes. Once you have printed and completed the sponsorship proposal form, we recommend that you keep a copy for your own records.
