TJX Companies Security Breach Update

As you're probably aware by now, a few months ago TD Banknorth was notified by Visa that TJX (a large merchant that includes TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Homegoods and A.J. Wright in the U.S., Winners and HomeSense in Canada) inadvertently made customers' card numbers and card information available to others due to a security breach.

TD Banknorth takes security breaches very seriously and we responded quickly, sending out notification letters to our impacted customers beginning in February. We then reissued new Visa debit cards with new PIN numbers to those customers and instructed them to activate their new cards immediately and destroy their old cards. All new cards should have been received by the end of March.

  • If you received a new debit card and PIN and have not activated it yet, please do so immediately.
  • If you did not receive a new debit card and PIN, your card was not impacted and you do not have to take any action.
  • Remember that with Visa's Zero Liability Policy, you're not liable for any unauthorized purchases made online or for signature-based transactions at merchants.

Please read the Frequently Asked Questions below for more information.
