Security AlertWhat happened?
Certegy Check Services, Inc. (Certegy), a subsidiary of Fidelity National Information Services, Inc. who provides check services to U.S. retail merchants, has had a data breach. Approximately 2.3 million individuals' information (name, address, phone number, and in many cases date of birth and account number) was misappropriated by a Certegy employee and sold to a limited number of direct marketing organizations. However, there is no evidence this information is being used for fraud and Certegy has contacted the applicable marketing companies to return all of the consumer information.
How does this impact me?
Certegy will be contacting any impacted individuals via a letter to be sent around July 6, 2007. Certegy has also established a toll-free number for consumers to call with any questions or concerns.
How can I find out more information?
You can call Certegy's toll-free hotline: 866-498-9916 and go to Certegy's website* for more information.
